I just had one of the best massages in my life, a hot stone massage at Paradise Point Resort & Spa in San Diego. My daughter's fiancé suggested my husband and I stay at Paradise Point. My other daughter suggested that I try the hot stone massage at Paradise Point as it is one of her favorites there. The spa, SpaTerre, is serene and cozy. The front desk host welcomed me and informed me what to do. I arrived early enough to change into the robe and read the magazine Spa in the relaxation room. My massage therapist, Annette, greeted me and guided me to the spa room. The atmosphere was peaceful and soothing. Off to the side was a tall wooden bath tub for a private rose petal bath. Next time, I will include the bath. The massage table was comfy with soft and heated sheets. Annette had a calm and soothing presence and 10 years experience at SpaTerre.
The smooth stones were warmed and used along with massage oil. The warmth from the stones were extremely relaxing and the massage blissful. Annette is a gifted massage therapist. I highly recommend a hot stone massage to anyone. After the massage, I sat in the steam room for about 20 minutes which was another treat. The complete experience and feeling of wellness prompted me to purchase gift certificates for my daughters. Upon leaving the spa, the manager was friendly and attentive readying the gift certificates I purchased.
The massage and spa experience instilled a peace and wellness space that stayed with me throughout the holiday. And as always, after a massage, I think, "why do we spend so little time and money nurturing our bodies, yet we spend lots of time and money on our homes and our cars? It should be the reverse, body first."
This Christmas, why not do something different? Give the gift of a hot stone massage or ask for one for Christmas. Or better yet, gift it to yourself.
